The Mike Nock “NOCTET” – Friday, 2nd of February 2024:
[THIS SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED. TICKETS WILL BE BACK ON SALE ONCE NEW DATE IS CONFIRMED.]
It’s been a while since this all-star band has played together and many will remember their dynamic performance on World Jazz Day back in 2022. If you’re a fan of Australian jazz you won’t want to miss this rare appearance from a group combining the very best of established players with some of our most outstanding young musicians.
Bassist Brett Hirst, drummer James ‘PUG’ Waples, and tenor saxophonist Karl Laskowski have played and recorded with Mike for many years. More recent members of the Noctet include trumpeter Tom Avgenicos and guitarist Hilary Geddes (both Freedman Jazz fellowship winners) along with trombonist Alex Silver and the newest recruit alto saxophonist Jack Stoneham, in his second appearance with the group.
Expect some real musical fireworks when this group of wonderful musicians, led by the evergreen Mike Nock, get together for what will surely be one of the highlight gigs of 2024.
