Fusing jazz with Fado and popular traditional music of Portugal, Alma Orquestra features the music of the Lusophones and draws on this rich fountain for inspiration in their own compositions. With beautiful melodies, captivating grooves, and stunning improvisations, Alma never fails in moving listeners with their irresistible music.
Alma Orquestra has performed for large audiences at numerous festivals and at many of Sydney’s live music venues. They wowed viewers when they starred in SBS’s “Destination Flavour Eurovision”, hosted by Master Chef sensation Adam Liaw. This spectacular five-piece ensemble features Sydney’s stunning songstress/violinist Mandie Vieira, along with fellow Portuguese-Australian saxophonist extraordinaire Loretta Palmeiro plus a stellar rhythm section in guitarist Jeremy Sawkins, bassist Hannah James and drummer Mike Quigley.
