Gregg Arthur LIVE + the Peter Locke quintet – Saturday, 26th of November 2022:
“I’m fussy when it comes to vocalists, and very hard to please. I feel that this country has only a handful of great jazz singers. This quintessential jazz club experience confirmed for me that Gregg Arthur is one of them.” Eric Myers, The Weekend Australian
Gregg Arthur follows in the footsteps of Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, and Tony Bennett as one of the great interpreters, and in his thrilling show at Foundry 616 he performs songs written by legendary artists including Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Cole Porter, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Michel Legrand.
Gregg has been called “the finest male jazz singer Australia has produced since Vince Jones” and over the course of a long career in Australia and America has honed his talents and worked with iconic musicians including Australia’s own Maestro Tommy Tycho, Tom Ranier (pianist for Tony Bennett), Bob Rosario (Pianist and arranger for Bobby Darin) Vincent Falcone (pianist and conductor for Frank Sinatra), and the “Brush Master” Clayton Cameron (drummer for Tony Bennett and Sammy Davis Jr)
On Saturday, September 3rd Gregg is joined on stage by Peter Locke on piano, Andrew Dickeson on drums, Lloyd Swanton on bass, Charlie Meadows on guitar, and special guest Craig Walters on tenor sax.
“Some people got it, and some people don’t. Gregg Arthur is one of the ones who does. It’s the devilish art of being a jazz singer” John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
