Liz Player and The Player Quintet – Tuesday, 26th of January 2021:
Liz Player and her band The Player Quintet present “An Evening of Jazz” on Australia Day which serves as the first headline gig of her career.
Currently, in year 12 at the Conservatorium of Music High School, Liz has performed at many of Australia’s best venues including Qudos Bank Arena, The Sydney Entertainment Centre, The Opera House, Sydney Town Hall, Government House, Federal Parliament House, and the Conservatorium’s own Verbrugghen Hall. In addition to being a School’s Spectacular Featured Artist for the past 5 years, Liz has recently achieved a place in the highly competitive Talent Development Project (TDP) a program aimed at launching young musicians into the industry.
Having been trained since she was 9 years old by some of Sydney’s best vocal teachers: Nadia Piave, Natasha Cupitt, Amandine Petit, and Annie Woods, Liz’s affinity and passion for jazz has strongly emerged in high school. Thus, this performance is the first step into her dream professional career with some of the finest emerging musicians on the Sydney scene: Tim Doubinski on guitar, Jacob Jayasena on keys, Matt Simmonds on kit, and Henry Junor on bass. In addition to her brilliant band, Liz will be joined by special guest Damon Poppleton, a Sydney-based saxophonist who’s sure to melt minds.
So, come along for a night of new takes on the classics, exciting original arrangements, and tributes to the great artists who have influenced Liz so far.
A debut gig not to be missed!
