Mike Nock Trio – Thursday, 25th of August 2022:
MIKE NOCK’s trio appearance on Thursday, August 25th at Foundry616 will feature two brilliant young musicians currently attracting wide national attention.
Bassist Jacques Emery and drummer Chloe Kim are exciting emerging talents whose broad creative abilities bring fresh concepts to the music. She co-leads several bands that are highly active in Sydney’s jazz, improvising, and experimental music scene, including minimalist/drone/jazz/rock group HOLOPEAK, a bass/drum duo JACHLO, a 9-piece female jazz ensemble RAINPATTERNS and percussion trio TA GO LAK which responds Korean folk and Shamanic drumming tradition
Jacques Emery is another young graduate of the Sydney Con who has toured Europe with the Australian Art Orchestra and plays regularly around Sydney with many groups including Zela Margossian Quintet and HEKKA. He currently plays and teaches double bass and electric bass to all levels and is experienced in classical as well as jazz performance and repertoire.
This will be their debut performance with Mike before they play the Melbourne International Jazz Festival in October and promises a memorable night of cutting-edge creative music, pointing to the future while at the same time acknowledging and celebrating the tradition.
