Chasing the Moon – Saturday, 23rd of July 2022:
Chasing the Moon brings the exuberant and romantic sounds of Hot Club Jazz to life, imbibing it with their own distinctive style which melds Gypsy Swing with European Jazz and Latin flavours, and includes a number of original compositions.
Led by Kathy Bluff on violin and vocals and Paul Burjan on saxophone and flute, the band explores a rich, orchestral palette, combining soulful vocals and swinging violin with virtuosic saxophone and flute. That essential Parisian ambiance comes with the piano accordion of Garry Steel. Well-known Sydney jazz guitarist, John Blenkhorn provides rhythmic pulse and beautiful solos. The talented rhythm section features Merv Sequiera on double bass and Mike Quigley on drums, laying down the best of grooves.
The music of Chasing the Moon counterpoints the darkly chromatic sounds of European jazz with the light-hearted flair of American swing and the irresistible charm of the Parisian café, creating a joyous atmosphere.
Ooh là là, c’est magnifique!
