Anoesis + support by the Ephemera Trio – Wednesday, 20th of April 2022:
EPHEMERA TRIO:
“Always outward reaching conceptually” – Sydney Morning Herald
“Full of sonic textures and infinite possibilities” – The Music Trust
Ephemera: a musical exploration of celestial landscapes such as pulsars, craters, planetary atmospheres, stars, sun, and void. Merging the sound worlds of jazz and contemporary classical, and set to real space sounds and projections, it is a unique sonic experience. The ensemble is led by Keyna Wilkins (piano/flute/compositions) with Elsen Price (double bass/loop pedal) and Will Gilbert (trumpet) and includes freely improvised pieces. NASA recordings of electromagnetic waves from planets and stars are the backdrop soundtrack and have been compiled by astronomer Professor Paul Francis often with projections of space probe footage. Each member brings their own unique voice to the ensemble drawing from a multitude of musical backgrounds that combine to create a distinctive sound world that organically reacts to stellar concepts. Universe and Universality.
Anoesis is delighted to return to Foundry616 with its unique sound and original compositions. With refined presence, raw intensity, and an adventurous spirit, Anoesis strikes a balance between experimental and emotional, art and the blues, groove, and free improvisation.
In the pursuit of a pure connection to their music, the group creates a one-of-a-kind experience as an emerging voice in the Australian music scene. Anoesis has recently been named 2MBS Fine Music’s 2021-2022 Jazz Artists-In-Residence.
The group is currently preparing for the release of their second album Dancing Waters, recorded during their residency at the 2MBS Fine Music Founders’ Studio and planned to be released in late 2022.
