Andrew Dickeson Quintet – “Celebrating Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers” – Friday, 19th of January, 2024:
2019 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Master Drummer and legendary bandleader Art Blakey.
In celebration of this, drummer/bandleader Andrew Dickeson put together a band comprising some of Sydney’s finest musicians – dedicated to performing classic Jazz Messengers repertoire, along with some lesser-known material by Blakey alumni.
The band was remarkably well received in its first run of gigs – and happily, they will be returning to Foundry616 on Friday, 19th of January.
Andrew will be joined by Simon Ferenci- on trumpet, Hugh Barrett – on piano, and Jacob Graham – on bass, and introducing a great young talent on saxophone – Aidan Wong.
Expect a night of fiery swing and foot-tapping grooves!
