Australian jazz guitarist Peter O’Marabegan his professional career in Sydney in 1976. Some projects were with Dale Barlow, Miro Bukowsky, Jackie Orszacscy, Michael Bartolomei & WillyQua. He was awarded the prestigious “Don Banks Memorial Fellowship” for overseas study and was in New York in 1981 going to concerts, jam sessions, and having private lessons with JohnScofield, Dave Liebman & Attila Zoller.
O’Mara moved to Munich, Germany in late 1981, establishing himself as one of the most versatile guitarists in Europe. Many concerts and recordings with musicians like Dave Holland, Joe Lovano, Bob Mintzer, Kenny Wheeler, Randy Brecker, Charlie Mariano, Adam Nussbaum, NDR Bigbandand the United Jazz & Rock Ensemble. He performed jazz-rock group „Passport“ for 30 years, touring Europe, Brazil, South Africa, Morocco, and New Zealand.
As a composer and bandleader, he has recorded 20 CDs to date.
After more than 30 years Peter O’Mara will be reuniting with jazz legend Mike Nock for a special concert before returning to Germany. Jonathan Zwartzon’s double bass and Hamish Stuart on drums complete this exceptional quartet, featuring original compositions by Peter O’Mara and MikeNock as well as jazz standards specially arranged for the project. NewZealand born pianist/composer Mike Nock’s career has embraced a wide-ranging musical journey. He spent 25 years in the USA, honing his musicianship, touring, performing, and recording in the company of many of the world’s leading musicians. First attracting wide international attention through his innovative jazz-rock group The Fourth Way, he’s now recognised through his extensive catalogue of recordings and compositions.
Winning many awards and honours over his lengthy career he returned to Australia in 1986 where he continues to inspire through his many creative projects.
