Mike Nock Quartet – Friday, 5th of January 2024:
Pianist Mike Nock first appeared on the Australian jazz scene in 1960 with the legendary THREE OUT trio, later establishing a formidable international career as a bandleader through his large catalogue of award-winning recordings and work with many iconic musicians of the 20th century. Living back in Australia since 1985 he continues to inspire and entertain audiences with his music.
For his first show in 2024, Mike’s quartet will feature bassist Jonathan Zwartz and drummer Hamish Stuart, two musicians who have made an immense contribution to Australian music over several decades, plus the outstanding tenor saxophonist Karl Laskowski, a regular member of Mike’s groups for the past 15 years and heard on many of his recordings.
Drawing on a large repertoire and with a wide experience, this is a quartet that sets a very high bar. Come and hear for yourself just how good the best of Australian jazz today can be!
