SIMA presents Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival: Major Zulu – Friday, 4th of November 2022:
As part of the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival, Zambian-born, London-educated, Paris-trained, jazz and soul singer, Major Zulu brings a flavour of Nu-jazz with an international flair.
Major Zulu released her EP ‘The DIY Project Called life` to rave reviews on national radio stations. Each song on the EP is a journey of self-discovery through music and travel.
Major Zulu co-wrote and produced beautifully crafted songs with Sydney-based Producer A.Morrison.
Live audiences love Zulu’s earthy vocal tones and artful storytelling. In November 2021 Zulu sold-out Sydney performances including a headline show at the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival at Foundry 616 last year. In early 2022, Major Zulu performed the ‘Matisse and Jazz’ concert to a sold-out crowd at the Art Gallery of NSW.
Zulu has appeared on the same stage and festivals as Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse James Morrison (jazz), Paolo Nutini, and Earth Wind and Fire to name a few’ She has been featured in the movie ‘Jamais Contente’ by French Director Emelie Deleuze, playing the role of a gospel singer. Major Zulu has previously lent her voice to Grammy award-winning band ‘Basement Jaxx’ on track ‘Everybody.
