Remembering JOHN COLTRANE and JOHNNY HARTMAN …
On Thursday 7th March 1963, saxophonist / composer John Coltrane recorded one of his most lush / poignant albums with 40-year-old singer Johnny Hartman. The music recorded on this day by Coltrane and Hartman was released on the Impulse label later that year, remaining a high point in both artists’ careers and one of the finest records by Coltrane. This landmark recording is an album of lyrical beauty and simply one of the greatest in the jazz canon.
