SIMA presents ‘The Freedom Jazzdance’
Playing on the freedom of spontaneous improvisation and expression, this series curated by Stu Hunter celebrates the delicate dance of engagement that underpins this exciting art form.
Mary Rapp –
From the first notes of her performance, Mary Rapp sidesteps predictability and eschews the conventional. This trio display no holds barred improvisation, creating dream-like soundscapes as a platform for Rapp’s visceral and emotive vocals.
Brave and committed to a firm artistic vision, the group present themselves in ways that disquiet rather than reassure the mind.
Rapp’s compositions/improvisations are shape-shifting soundscapes, and you’ll be strangely absorbed by the disconnected-connectedness of the three performers.
“This is Rapp’s debut recording. I find her artistic confidence, creativity, and conviction astonishing.” – The Music Trust
