Rodric White presents – “Jazz meets Música Latina” – Friday, 1st of July 2022:
Pianist/music director Rodric White looks forward to performing with Chilean musicians, singer Magdalena Mira and guitarist Ricardo Cancino, for a brand new show exploring where Jazz and the music of South America meet.
Over the past 7 years, Rodric has enjoyed numerous opportunities to showcase the music of other cultures in collaborations at FOUNDRY616 with singers Juliana Areias (Brazil), Patricia Ségui (France), Julia Shved (Ukraine), and once again with singer Magdalena Mira now accompanied by fellow Chilean musician, guitarist Ricardo Cancino.
Magdalena’s voice has been described as deeply angelic and wonderfully dark, and likened to the tones of Astrud Gilberto and Norah Jones:
‘Magdalena Mira is an exquisite sounding and feeling singer, with a rare gift for interpreting and communicating songs …’
– Lloyd Bradford Syke of Australian Stage Online
‘It surprised me to hear him announce a Keith Jarrett number. Even more so when [Rodric] played an extract from the Koln Concert. That took guts …’
– John Fenton NZ Jazz Critic (Australia & Pacific Gigs Review)
