Vahagn Hayrapetyan: Jazz Maverick. Piano Firestarter. Global Groove Architect.
Vahagn Hayrapetyan cut his teeth at the Tchaikovsky Music School and the Yerevan State Conservatory, but it was on the streets of New York — under the fierce mentorship of bebop icons Barry Harris and Frank Hewitt — that he found his true voice.
Since then, he’s been a force of nature, lighting up stages alongside legends like Elvin Jones, John Lovelace, Chico Davis, and Leroy Williams. His sound — raw, soulful, fearless — has taken him around the world, from underground clubs to top festivals like Jazz Jamboree, St. Petersburg International Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and the Montreal Jazz Festiva
Founder of his own band Katuner (“Cats”) and an award-winning film composer (If Only Everyone — Beijing International Movie Festival), Vahagn brings a fearless spirit and unstoppable groove to every stage he touches.
An Honored Artist of Armenia, he lives and breathes the raw energy of jazz — and it shows.
