Newmarket Recording Artist and National Australian Jazz Piano Finalist Rodric White brings the timeless music of jazz legend Bill Evans to life in this special tribute performance.
Joined by a dream rhythm section featuring Craig Scott on bass (Don Burrows Quintet, Gregg Arthur) and Jim Piesse on drums (Nolan Buddle Quartet, Paul McNamara Trio), this trio celebrates the brilliance and innovation of Evans’ work with sensitivity and style. The evening will also include a special guest appearance by vocalist Susan Gai Dowling, adding another layer of depth to this musical homage.
Bill Evans (1929–1980) remains one of the most influential figures in jazz, having recorded over 70 albums and reshaped the role of the jazz piano trio. From his landmark work on Kind of Blue with Miles Davis to collaborations with Scott La Faro, Eddie Gomez, and Tony Bennett, Evans’ lyrical style and harmonic sophistication inspired generations of pianists including Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, and Brad Mehldau.

It surprised me to hear him announce a Keith Jarrett number. Even more so when [Rodric] played an extract from the Köln Concert. That took guts…” – John Fenton, NZ Jazz Critic
