Michael Griffin is an acclaimed Australian saxophonist known for his dynamic sound and deep-rooted connection to jazz tradition. He has performed at major venues and festivals, including the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Smalls Jazz Club (NYC), and the Smithsonian (Washington D.C.).
A four-time finalist for the Generations in Jazz James Morrison Scholarship and a semifinalist in the 2013 Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition, Griffin has been featured in Downbeat Magazine (USA) and The Sydney Morning Herald. His debut album, Unexpected Greeting, received four stars in The Australian.
He has performed alongside Joel Frahm, Carl Allen, James Morrison, and other jazz greats. His compositions span bebop, swing, Latin, and funk, with notable works including Back In The Swing Of Things, The Griffin, and Shut The Funk Up.
