Following their moving and memorable Anzac Day performance to a packed house—where they celebrated the re-release of Lloyd Swanton’s acclaimed two-CD suite Ambon—The catholics are back at Foundry616.
This time, they’re thrilled to welcome the return of James Greening, a founding member and one of the great figures in Australian jazz and improvised music. After a stint in the theatre world performing in Hadestown, James rejoins the band on trombone and trumpets, ready to blow the roof off once again.
Joining him in the front line is the legendary Sandy Evans on saxophones, supported by a stellar rhythm section:
- Julian Curwin – Guitar & Banjo
- Gary Daley – Piano Accordion & Melodica
- Adem Yilmaz – Eastern Percussion (regular guest)
- Hamish Stuart – Drums
- Lloyd Swanton – Bass & Band Leader
With this powerhouse lineup, expect a night of inventive, spirited, and joyfully unrestrained music. Lloyd may be keeping an eye on things, but with a band like this, it’s best to let them run wild—and why wouldn’t you?
