Meet the Musicians:

Chris Cody – Internationally renowned pianist and composer, Chris Cody, has headlined numerous international festivals including Paris Quartiers d’Eté, London, Rome, Brussels Jazz Marathon, and more. He has collaborated with many outstanding international musicians such as Roy Hargrove, Carla Bruni, and Jason Marsalis. With thirteen CDs released on international labels, Cody has received glowing reviews and featured on radio and television worldwide. He has collaborated on over thirty other international albums.

Sandy Evans – A celebrated composer and saxophonist with a passion for improvisation and new music, Sandy Evans has played and composed for some of the most significant groups in Australian jazz since the early 1980s. She has toured extensively across Australia, Europe, Canada, and Asia and featured on over 40 albums. Evans leads the Sandy Evans Trio and Sextet, co-leads Clarion Fracture Zone, and is a member of Mara!, The catholics, and the Australian Art Orchestra. She collaborates regularly with Indian classical musicians Sarangan Sriranganathan and Bobby Singh.

Tessie Overmyer, alto saxophone – Tessie Overmyer has rapidly established herself as one of the most dynamic saxophone players in the Australian jazz scene. Described by Barney McCall as having “a natural flow for the future and the ability to speak the poetry of life and death through her horn,” Overmyer has performed with Mike Nock, Andrea Keller, and Sandy Evans, among others. She has appeared at numerous festivals including the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and the Perth International Jazz Festival.

Lloyd Swanton, double bass – Described by Billboard Magazine as “an outstanding and imaginative Australian bassist and composer,” Lloyd Swanton has toured the world with The Necks for 30 years. He has received three ARIA Award nominations with his group, The catholics, and has performed in nearly 40 countries. Swanton is a three-time winner of Best Bassist in the Australian Jazz and Blues Awards and has played with international artists like Dewey Redman, Nat Adderley, and Sheila Jordan.
