After a sold-out debut at Foundry616 Jazz Club, Motown & Beyond returns for a second show. This 7-piece Sydney-based band features an incredible lineup, bringing soul, R&B, and pop classics to life. They celebrate music from the Motown era (1959-present), including legends like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and James Brown, as well as later artists influenced by Motown such as Eric Clapton and Amy Winehouse.
Originally designed to sound great on car radios, Motown music is known for its thumping backbeat and distinctive brass sounds, represented in our ensemble by the saxophone. Our band goes ‘beyond’ Motown, delivering high-energy songs with dazzling vocals that will make you dance, tap your feet, sing along, or simply relax and enjoy hits from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and recent pop classics.
