CHASING THE MOON:
Chasing the Moon delivers a mouth-watering feast of Gypsy Jazz, Musette and Chanson laced with a dash of swing and Latin flavors. The exuberant and romantic sounds of Hot Club Jazz come to life with this engaging sextet.
Led by Kathy Bluff on vocals and violin and Paul Burjan on saxophone and flute, the band envelopes you in a rich sound, combining soulful vocals and swinging violin with virtuosic saxophone and flute, and that essential Parisian ambiance that comes with the piano accordion of the engaging Garry Steel. Well known Sydney jazz guitarist, John Blenkhorn provides rhythmic pulse and beautiful ‘Djangoesque’ solos. Jessica Dunn (Sirens Big Band) on double bass and Mike Quigley on drums lay down the best of grooves.
Presenting a repertoire that features unique arrangements of gypsy jazz and swing classics as well as original tunes, the music of Chasing the Moon counterpoints the darkly chromatic gypsy sounds with the light-hearted flair of American swing and the irresistible charm of the Parisian café, creating an irrepressible feeling of joy.
Ooh là là, c’est Magnifique!
