Mosaic Jazz Collective (MJC) – Thursday, 30th of November 2023:
The Mosaic Jazz Collective (formerly PCSD) is a 10-piece composer-performer collective focussed on writing and performing original works and premiering compositions from some of Sydney’s brightest up-and-coming composers. Inspired by Australian Jazz heavyweights 10 Part Invention, as well as the Thelonius Monk Octet and the Charles Mingus Big Band, Mosaic aims to experiment and push boundaries, bringing the audience through rich, colourful textures, and dizzying heights, and present an exhilarating performance worth more than the sum of its parts.
“This 10-piece band of emerging jazz performers and composers perform a new and exciting style of Australian jazz ensemble music … Mosaic plays all original music as it’s a band of player-composers! MJC performs and composes with explorative, youthful energy, providing a most exciting jazz experience [and] is destined to become a popular jazz outfit on the Australian music scene. “
