Jackson Harrison Trio – Wednesday, 30th of June 2021:
“…a pianistic melodist who has found his own patterns, and creates a structural language that is deceptively simple and suffused with original beauty.” – The Weekend Australian
“The Jackson Harrison Trio paints pictures of astonishing abstract art…splashing fiery colours onto backgrounds that are often stark but always stunning” – All About Jazz USA
Jackson’s new trio features the brilliant Sydney musicians James Waples and (recent Freedman Jazz Fellowship finalist) Jacques Emery.
Since winning the National Jazz Award in 2006 and performing as a finalist at the 2010 Freedman Jazz Fellowship concert at the Sydney Opera House, Jackson has toured with his trio in China and in Europe, and has released two trio albums on the prestigious Swiss record label Hat Hut Records. Jackson’s most recent trio album Sintering was recorded in Sydney with James Waples and Ben Waples. His debut trio album Land Tides was recorded in New York with Thomas Morgan and Dan Weiss, and received critical acclaim both in Australia and in Europe.
Jackson has recorded and toured extensively with Sydney-based saxophonist and composer Jeremy Rose, including recording and performing in Berlin for the album Within and Without (featuring guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel), and appearing on Rose’s 2015 quartet album Sand Lines.
