Hilary Geddes is an improviser and composer based in Sydney. At just 26 years of age, Hilary has become an in-demand guitarist in the Australian jazz and improvised music scenes, performing alongside jazz luminaries such as Mike Nock and Barney McAll and plays guitar in the 10-piece powerhouse Pharos. Hilary is the 2019 recipient of the Jann Rutherford Memorial, which aims to assist the professional development of a young woman jazz instrumentalist who demonstrates excellence in performance, improvisaSon and composiSon. This award culminated in performances at the Sydney and Melbourne InternaSonal Jazz FesSvals, as well as the recording of her debut album, ‘Parkside’ with ABC Jazz late last year. Supported by stellar musicians Alexander Inman-Hislop, Maximillian Alduca and MaBhew Harris, the quartet will be performing tunes from the album – an exciSng night of music not to be missed!
This performance is taking place on Gadigal land. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the tradiSonal custodians of this land. We acknowledge the Gadigal of the Eora NaSon as the tradiSonal custodians and have the utmost respect for Elders past and present. Sovereignty was never ceded and this always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
