album “Bellwether”.
She has toured and performed in Europe, Canada, the US, and Korea. Her recordings investigate a wide range of improvisational practices and represent her core interest in improvised music and innovative approaches for her projects. Her recent works include experimental keys and drums duo SHAMIN and her jazz orchestra
project SMO. She was mentored by acclaimed musicians such as Steve Newcomb, Zac Hurren, Barney McAll, and Scott Tinkler.
This led to formulating a three collective set alongside the incredible local musicians of Tom Avgenicos, Simon Barker, and Jacques Emery. The group will showcase Sophie’s original works drawn from her improvising practices as well as musical conversations in a free-flowing context. You’ll expect to hear a set of Sophie’s solo piano, a set of Sophie and Tom Duo, and a set of Sophie, Simon, and Jacques Trio.
