A Blonde, A Brunette, the dazzle of Camilla, and smoldering Jazzzzz leads to a fabulous night of entertainment when Simone Waddell of Sydney, and Merryn Holder of Brisbane perform at Sydney’s Premier Jazz Club – Foundry 616, with a fabulous line up of musicians.
They will take you on their unique journey through lively swing, rhythmic bossas, and heartfelt ballads, to create an unforgettable and magical experience.
Simone Waddell was the first Australian to receive a scholarship to Berklee, the top music school in the world. She also won the Nescafé Big Break and was awarded $20,000 for her musical achievements.
As an international singer/songwriter, Simone has performed in theU.S.A, Japan, China, Europe, and Australia, and has released four albums and multiple singles. Her original music videos have over half a million views worldwide on Facebook and YouTube.
Simone completed her Research Masters Degree on a scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Career highlights include, touring with the Grammy nominated artist, Taylor Dayne, numerous performances for national leaders at Parliament House, and performing for Australian Music Week as the opening act for Vince Jones, one of her biggest musical influences.
She is a world class singer who has an extraordinary ability to move the hearts of her audience.
Melbourne born and blessed with an exotic look from her Chinese-Australian heritage, and with both parents being jazz musicians, Merryn found herself studying musicians such as Cleo Laine, Billie Holiday, Astrid Gilberto, Mel Torme and the like.
She made her stage debut performing the leading role of Maria in West Side Story in a Melbourne Youth Production, before taking off to Madrid in Spainat age 17. This brave step led her to pursue a career largely in Jazz and Brazilian music .
Merryn learnt her craft on the job and steadily rose in her career working with acts all over Europe, performing extensively in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, UK, Japan, and Singapore. She was then invited to perform in many top venues, which ultimately honed her into the polished artist she is today.
Language was no barrier as Merryn speaks and sings in six languages!
Merryn particularly loves improvising and is always learning new skills to enhance her performances.
New to Australia again after her highly successful time overseas, Merryn now proudly calls Brisbane her home.
