Chasing the Moon:
Chasing the Moon presents a captivating evening of Gypsy Jazz, Musette, Chanson, and Swing, infused with lashings of Latin flavour. This engaging sextet brings the exuberant and romantic sounds of Hot Club Jazz to life, imbibing it with its own distinctive style that includes a number of original compositions.
Led by Kathy Bluff on violin and vocals and Paul Burjan on saxophone and flute, the band envelopes you in a rich, orchestral sound, combining soulful vocals and swinging violin with virtuosic saxophone and flute.
That essential Parisian ambiance comes with the piano accordion and for this performance only Chasing the Moon will be joined by Gary Daley on accordion. Gary Daley is a wonderful musician who has played in many of the elite bands of Australian jazz; including, James Greening’s, Greening from Ear to Ear, and the jazz-world music band The Catholics.
Well known Sydney jazz guitarist, John Blenkhorn provides rhythmic pulse and beautiful ‘Djangoesque’ solos. Jessica Dunn (Sirens Big Band) on double bass and Mike Quigley on drums, lay down the best of grooves. The music of Chasing the Moon counterpoints darkly chromatic gypsy sounds with the light-hearted flair of American swing and the irresistible charm of the Parisian café, creating an irrepressibly joyous atmosphere.
Ooh là là, c’est magnifique!
