Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival present 2019 Jann Rutherford Memorial Award – Hilary Geddes Quartet:
Inspired by AC/DC’s Angus Young and Murray from the Wiggles, Hilary Geddes learned to play guitar as a child in her home town of Griffith, NSW.
Geddes graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with First Class Honours in 2018, studying under Carl Dewhurst, James Muller and Steve Brien.
Geddes has played alongside jazz luminaries like Mick Nock and Barney McCall, and appears as a consistent member of the Sydney Women’s Jazz Collective PHAROS.
The Jann Rutherford Memorial Award aims to assist the professional development of a young female jazz instrumentalist. The award will allow Hilary Geddes to record and release her debut album.
