Hugh Barrett Trio – Wednesday, 10th of January 2024:
Hugh Barrett has actively participated in the Australian jazz scene for over fifteen years.
Having been nominated for the Freedman Jazz Fellowship in 2018 and reaching the semi-finals of the Australian National Jazz Awards in 2006 and 2013, Hugh has shared the stage with internationally acclaimed artists such as Chris Potter, Maria Schneider, Bob Shepherd, Alex Sipiagin, Florian Ross, Charles Tolliver, Bert Joris, and Roger Manins. Additionally, he played a key role in the inaugural performances and recordings of the Australian National Jazz Orchestra in 2017 and 2019.
Hugh is a regular performer in ensembles led by both established Australian jazz icons and emerging talents. His presence has graced the stages of some of Australia’s premier jazz festivals, and he served as a faculty member at the Australian National University School of Music from 2018 to 2022.
