Chris Cody, Sandy Evans + Lloyd Swanton – Thursday, 8th of February 2024:
Foundry welcomes back Chris Cody with the wonderful saxophonist Sandy Evans, and long-time collaborator and bassist Lloyd Swanton this February!
It’s been some time since Cody last played with Evans, a legend in the Australian jazz, world and improvised music scene, and they can’t wait to resume their musical friendship and see to what exciting places the music leads them. This new trio explores originals, standards, and free playing in a fun and adventurous fashion, with infectious grooves and moments of sublime lyricism.
Renowned jazz pianist Chris Cody has thrilled audiences at festivals and venues around the world from New York to Zanzibar, working with jazz greats Roy Hargrove, Herb Geller, Rhoda Scott, Lisa Simone, Brice Wassy, and Miles Davis alumni Rick Margitza along the way.
Sandy Evans has played and recorded with Clarion Fracture Zone, Ten Part Invention, the catholics, Australian Art Orchestra, and many other groups. She has a keen interest in Indian classical music, collaborating regularly with Sarangan Sriranganathan, and Bobby Singh, and inaugurated the Jazz Improvisation Course for Young Women run annually by SIMA.
Lloyd Swanton is very well known for his work with the Necks, who have toured the world for over 20 years, Dale Barlow, the Benders, Mike Nock, Clarion fracture Zone, Sandy Evans, Vince Jones, Tim Finn, Stephen Cummings, Wendy Matthews, Dynamic Hepnotics, Bernie McGann and numerous other Australian jazz groups.
