“Celebrating Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers” – Friday, October 2, at
Foundry 616 2019 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of drumming legend Art Blakey and in celebration of this, drummer/
bandleader Andrew Dickeson put together a band comprising some of Sydney’s finest musicians.
The band was remarkably well-received in its first run of gigs – and happily, they are returning to Foundry616 on Friday, October 2.
They will be performing classic Jazz Messengers repertoire, along with some lesser-known material by Blakey alumni.
Andrew will be joined by Warwick Alder – trumpet, Andrew Robertson – sax, Aaron Blakey – piano, and Jacob Graham –
bass.
Expect a night of fiery swing and foot-tapping grooves!
