The MIKE NOCK quartet play Sydney’s Foundry 616, 8.30-11pm Friday March 22nd with the extraordinary guitarist Hilary Geddes making her debut with the band. Playing since she was 6 years of age and with musical influences as diverse as AC/DC’s Angus Young, Ornette Coleman and Big Mama Thornton, Hilary brings earthiness plus sophistication to the stage.
If you haven’t yet heard her you’re in for a real treat. The wonderful rhythm team of bassist Max Alduca and drummer James Waples will also be on board featuring a new repertoire largely drawn from Mike’s extensive catalogue of original music from the 70’s and beyond. This promises to be a very special night.
“Mike Nock is a magician of lyrical invention…” AllMusic review, Feb 2019.
“In a 60-year career he has done everything and triumphantly stayed at the vanguard of jazz’s evolution.” Eric Myers, The Australian July 9 / 2017
In 1978, Bob Palmer in Rolling Stone (US ) wrote “…this music is beyond category … had a lot to do with creating the new electric style now being put to use in the Miles Davis group and in countless other groups …”
“Mike Nock is an international treasure…” JAZZ TIMES ( USA ) May 2000
