Jazz vocalist Leah Berry is quickly making a name for herself with her captivating storytelling, velvety tone, and impressive improvisation. A 2024 graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Leah is eager to continue her musical journey in Sydney and beyond.
Her love for jazz began in high school upon discovering Ella Fitzgerald, connecting deeply with the genre’s variety, storytelling, and improvisation. She draws inspiration from jazz greats such as Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan, and Anita O’Day. In 2024, with the support of the Sydney Conservatorium, Leah attended the Siena Jazz International Summer Workshop, learning from world-class musicians like Melissa Aldana, Theo Bleckmann, Yumi Ito, and Lage Lund.
A regular performer in Sydney, Leah has showcased her talents both as a bandleader and vocalist. Recently, she performed with the emerging eleven-piece band, Symphonette, led by Harry Sutherland and Yannick Koffi. In 2023, she recorded a mix of originals and arrangements at 2MBS Fine Music on Emergent Jazz with Keith Pettigrew, who praised her “superb scatting and vocalising,” calling her “a voice of our jazz future.”
For this special one-night performance, Leah is joined by an incredible lineup: Yannick Koffi (guitar), Andrew Scott (organ), and Patrick Danao (drums). Don’t miss this unforgettable evening of jazz!
