Bassist and vocalist Lauren White present a night of warm jazz, bossa nova favourites, and new original contemporary jazz. A natural storyteller, Lauren reveals the poetic and romantic nature of the jazz repertoire. Her interpretations are sophisticated and honest, effortlessly conveying the sentimentality and joy of the music.
Lauren will be presenting new compositions from her upcoming album which 2MBS Fine Music Sydney has supported.
Lauren has performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival, and the Sydney Opera House, and has studied with some of Australia’s leading bassists, such as Craig Scott, Donny Benét, and Brett Hirst. In 2019 she studied at the esteemed Herb Alpert School of Music at UCLA in Los Angeles. Known for her down-to-earth style, grounding bass, and warm, soulful melodies, Lauren White is a unique voice in the Australian jazz landscape.
