Jacob Jayasena is a bright up-and-coming pianist currently studying at the esteemed Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Jacob is joined by two accomplished musicians—Andrew Dickeson on drums and Jacob Graham on bass. Together, the trio will deliver a diverse set featuring original compositions and classic jazz standards, inspired by the music of Charlie Parker, Barry Harris, Bach, Ravel, and Jacob’s Indonesian roots.
This time, the trio will feature an extraordinary guest: Dale Barlow. One of Australia’s most accomplished and internationally recognized jazz artists, Dale was a member of legendary American groups The Cedar Walton Quartet and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers.
Dale has also toured and recorded with many other jazz greats including Sonny Stitt, Chet Baker, Gil Evans, Jackie McLean, Billy Cobham, Dizzy Gillespie, Curtis Fuller, Eddie Palmieri, Benny Golson, Lee Konitz, Mulgrew Miller, Kenny Barron, Dave Kikoski, Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Higgins, Freddie Hubbard and Wynton Marsalis, Eddie Henderson, Jeff Watts, Bennie Green and Mike Nock.
Widely recognized as an inspiring, virtuosic, and original tenor saxophonist and composer, Dale is also an accomplished flutist, bass clarinetist, arranger, and pianist. As a composer, he has written for large and small ensembles, film, theatre, and television, and has recorded extensively. His extraordinary talent and contributions have left an indelible mark on the jazz landscape, making Barlow a true icon on the Australian and international music scene.
