Caribé combines the exceptional talents of Sydney-based Cuban dancer Adrian Medina with an incredible 8-piece Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble drawn from Sydney’s Latino and jazz communities. The ensemble has recently shared the stage with Grammy-nominated Cuban pianist Elio Villafranca in sell-out performances.
On Friday November 30th the band, whose technical skill is matched only by their consistent high energy, will be presenting two sets of body-shaking grooves at Foundry 616.Adrian and the group will bring the infectious rhythms of Cuba alive in a dazzling program of traditional and classic Cuban styles including rumba, cha cha chá, guajira, mambo and Cuban jazz. Be ready to dance!
Ed Goyer-piano, Nick Henderson-bass, Toño Marquez and Giorgio Rojas-percussion, Danny Carmichael-trombone, Lee McIver-trumpet, Julian Gough and Gai Bryant-saxophones.
“It is important to see and hear rumba live. It exemplifies the way Cuban people walk, how they behave, how they live.” Justo Pelladito
