“Massive fun!” Sydney Morning Herald

Join us for a very special and festive night of music from this jazz sensation that has been a hip hang at Foundry616 regularly since last year, brightening up Monday and Tuesday nights for many delighted fans. Featuring swinging 20s/30s jazz and some of Sydney’s finest musicians celebrating the music of New Orleans, the sheer energy and good time vibe of the Greasy Chicken Orchestra is unbeatable!

The band is led by Phillip Johnston, American saxophonist/ composer who lives in Sydney, while still maintaining a musical life in his hometown of New York City. Leading his own bands as well as performing with others, his work as a composer and musician extends across theatre, dance, film and music.

With a focus on early Duke Ellington and Jelly Roll Morton, tunes include such sizzling numbers as South Rampart Street Parade, Muskrat Ramble, and Grandpa’s Spells.  The Greasy Chicken Orchestra is a swinging band that lifts the roof off the club – so join us for a grand finale to 2017!

Phillip Johnston: soprano saxophone
Peter Farrar: alto saxophone
Jeremy Rose: tenor saxophone
