Product Description

“Heart-breakingly lyrical melodies, tasteful arrangements, sometimes groovy, even towards dance and house in the rhythm only by the string players: This pearl has it all”.   – Jazzism (NL, 5/5)

Jef Neve presents his brand new album Spirit Control for the first time on Australian soil!

Together with Philip Rex on bass, Danny Fischer on drums and a Sydney-based string quartet, this band is a not to miss opportunity!

Pianist Jef Neve is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most talented young jazz composers. Classically trained at Leuven’s Lemmensinstituut, he has showcased his skills in everything from orchestras to funk-pop bands, but achieved his big breakthrough when he formed the Jef Neve Trio, releasing four critically acclaimed albums and a film soundtrack.

“With ‘Spirit Control’, Jef Neve delivers a pertinent oeuvre, loyal to his dreams of his poetic voice, and without any doubt one of his most
beautiful successes”.  – Antoine Roux, Jazz Magazine (FRA)

Marrying intimate lyricism with daring ingenuity, Belgian pianist Jef Neve makes music that is lush, playful, expressive and elegant. From critical acclaim as a soloist and bandleader to collaborations with the likes of Jose James, Neve has established himself as one of the most important voices in contemporary jazz piano. Drawing freely on influences from classical romanticism to popular music, he is equally at home composing film scores to playing major jazz festivals around the world.

This engaging concert with string quartet will explore the limitless possibilities of the piano and show why Jeff Neve’s music is critically acclaimed the world over.
