Frances Madden & Band
Jazz Blues & Classics’ Show

She is Australia’s rising star of jazz and blues and we welcome back singer and piano player Frances Madden with her band to Foundry616 for their second performance of the year.

Frances and her seven-piece band have been selling out their shows at clubs and festivals around Australia as well as overseas. Frances recently supported the legendary Dionne Warwick and also Grammy Award-winner Gregory Porter in their Sydney concerts.

Last year, Frances headlined at the JZ Club in Shanghai and also attracted a crowd of around 1,500 people when she and the band played at Manly Jazz Festival. Sydney radio station Fine Music 102.5 FM nominated Frances as their Stefan Kruger Award winner for 2017 as recognition that she is one of the few successful female songwriter-performers in her genre.

Frances captivates her audiences with a combination of her genuinely warm stage presence along with a voice and style that are uniquely her own. She is a talented songwriter so when she performs her own swinging tunes and beautiful ballads, they merge seamlessly with the timeless classics she covers. As James Morrison put it:

“Frances has a wonderful feeling for jazz and blues standards but what makes her a real stand-out are her original songs and unique style”.

Alongside Frances, the line-up for the show includes some of Sydney’s most talented jazz musicians:

Frances Madden: vocals & piano
Carl Dewhurst:  Guitar
Brendan Clarke: Double & Electric Bass
Tim Geldens: Drums
Jason Bruer: Saxophone
Ray Cassar: Trumpet & Fluegelhorn
Lauren Harrison & Julie Oguey: Backing Vocals

Frances says “We’ll be doing our Jazz, Blues & Classics show which includes some of my originals alongside our unique take on some timeless tunes. There will be a few new tunes, a variety of tempos and arrangements, and opportunity to hear some great improvisation from the band. Foundry has a great menu so bring some friends and we promise to make it an enjoyable evening for all.”

Every previous show Frances has played here at Foundry616 has sold out so we strongly recommend early bookings. [Please note, only dinner bookings or drinks package bookings guarantee a seat and table for the show. Some stools seating is available for GA on a first come first served basis.]
