Monday 18 June, 2018, 8.00pm
The Sydney Jazz Orchestra never fails to switch gears with ease, and this gig is no exception with latin and pop on the musical menu.
In a fast moving repertoire, there’s a mix of director Tim Oram’s masterful arrangements of perennial pop and standards showcasing vocals from engaging and dynamic frontman Glenn Cunningham, finalist in The Voice and described as a strong stylist who puts his own stamp on everything he sings.
Specialist Latin percussionist and drummer and leading educator, Steve Marin features in the rhythm section; one of Australia’s most respected musicians , Steve has performed with and supported US band Kelis, Cuba’s Elio Reve, Africando, and the popular Damien Leith.
The performance includes music from Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Jimi Hendrix, Steely Dan , and Michel Camilo, plus originals from Tim Oram and Richard Percival.
Under 18s welcome with an adult.
“This band is made up of the best musicians in Australia and has precision, energy and excitement, handling modern abstract genres and arrangements of rock and pop standards with stylistic perfection”.
