18 January Wednesday – Matthew Ottignon’s Tough Tenors
Wednesday 18 January, 2017, 8.30pm: BOOK EARLY to avoid missing out!
Matthew Ottignon’s Tough Tenors is a hard-swinging quintet performing classic 1950’s and 60’s double tenor sax arrangements from Dexter Gordon, Gene Ammons, Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis, Johnny Griffin et al.
Matt has been performing in Sydney for over 20 years with the likes of Mike Nock, Ten Part Invention, Dereb the Ambassador, Baby Et Lulu and leads his own afro jazz band Mister Ott. This will be one of Matt and Chris’ last gigs in Sydney till October 2017 as they will both be based in Berlin for a large part of next year, so catch these tough tenors while you can, performing straight up swing and blues drenched jazz, a rare thing these days.
It features Matt Ottignon – tenor, Chris O’Dea – tenor, Andrew Scott – piano, Tom Botting – bass, Tim Geldens – drums
