About Chris Abrahams
Pianist and composer Chris Abrahams is one of Australia’s premier musicians, widely recognized for his wide-ranging keyboard skills. Perhaps best known for his long term, mesmeric playing in cult band The Necks, Abrahams has appeared with the Benders, the Sparklers, Peter Blakeley, the Necks, Jackie Orszaczky, and Ed Kuepper since the 1980s and performs regularly in the jazz and improvising music scenes both in Australia and Europe.
Abrahams has, amongst a wide and varied array of other projects, released several solo piano and electro acoustic albums (most recently the acclaimed Fluid to The Influence) and toured constantly, throughout the world, with The Necks, releasing numerous albums with them.
About Robbie Avenaim
Drummer and innovative sound artist Robbie Avenaim has an international reputation for bold, sonic exploration. Focussed primarily on percussion and instrument building, his practice spans the domains of free improvisation and avant garde composition. For over 25 years, he has been at the forefront of the Australian experimental music scene both as a performer and a curator.
The co-founder and director of the legendary Australian experimental music festival, What Is Music? Avenaim has since organised many significant sound-based exhibitions, performances and festivals regionally and overseas, which have been essential for the local growth and international prestige of Australia’s avant garde musical reputation.
